FLASHBACK

Thrifted Floral Dress / Urban Outfitters Black Pumps / Buffalo Exchange Spider Necklace / Urban Outfitters Hawk Ring On A Chain

This dress is something I wasn't crazy about when I picked it up at a thrift store, but I kept looking it over so I thought I might as well get it since it caught my eye several times. The hem hits about mid-calf, and I've been meaning to shorten it for awhile now but never got around to it, so I just pulled it up and safety pinned it. Safety pins are a quick fix for tailoring and I'm obsessed with how many options you have when it comes to creating drapery, like the fact that this dress has a longer tail in the front adds a little bit of a girlish quirk. I have too many pairs of shredded black tights, it's seriously impossible for me to own anything without getting a hole in it, so I cut off the waist of some old tights to create some thigh high stockings.

I was looking through all of these old pictures my Aunt took in the 90's when she right around the age I am now and I'm smitten with them! (The first photo is of my aunt, Julie, and all of the others are photos she took of friends) The style and content of the photos are just so fucking alluring. Maybe I'm biased because I grew up in the 90's, but there is something about that decade that is just so cool. Even though my dress is from the 80's, I was inspired by nineties grunge and the dark femme fatale style. I tried to edit my outfit photos to look like generic disposable camera pictures too, you know the bright flash and slight discoloring and noise. They didn't really turn out how I wanted but it was a photo editing experiment so it was good practice.

  1. Those photos of Julie and her friends are really cool. And I love how you made those tights into stockings. They look awesome!
