PRETTY PRIMITIVE: LOOKBOOK

primitive is one of my most inspired shoots to date, even finally posting these photos months after they were taken have me feeling just as electrified as when i first shot them. grateful beyond words for the creative dream team that helped me bring this to life.

ale dominguez, mariah schoolfield, maria wallisch & taylor moss hopped a fence at 6am & walked around naked & barefoot in an abandoned barn covered in hidden dangers like broken glass & cow manure to model for this editorial! i'm lucky they had such faith in this vision & brought such GIRL POWER to these images, like goddamn! women are fucking incredible.

my make-up artist soulmate, stephanie aldrich, brought the universe into the eyes of these women! stephanie just oozes sunshine & rainbows & she's michelangelo with a make-up brush, so fortunate to have the chance to collaborate with her.

my awe inspiring big sister, torie hadel, did the hair on this tutorial & i wanted to cry little happy tears (she would always do my hair for school dances & i can still smell the fruitiness of the orange gum she would chew as she curled my hair). not only did she whip out some amazing editorial worthy hair-dos, but she helped me keep my cool when it was 5am & we still hadn't slept & i was on the verge of a nervous breakdown before the shoot's call time in an hour... what would i do without her!?

also HUGE shout-out to my ride or die, evann waterman, for coming along for this crazy ride & helping keep the show running smoothly. at one point she was literally holding me up against a wall so i could snap those good angles! ev, i'm taking you to the top baby girl.

all of these jackets were upcycled from donated or thrifted pieces. the blue fur coat with floral detail was inspired when the coat ripped & my solution was to fill it with flowers, like plants growing through concrete. all faux fur & leather, rebellelion does not support the harming of animals for fashion. my sister snatched up the white coat, & the long white coat & blue floral coat are being evolved for future projects. the black coat with fringe is available here

jewelry was provided by an amazing colorado local jeweler, the mechanic's wife. sally has such beautiful craftsmanship & each pieces is so eye catching & unique!

FEMINIST AS FUCK

rebelle crop top / vintage hat / burger & friends sunglasses / mclaine. o bikini bottoms

bee stopped by for a few hours today, so naturally i made her get half naked & pose in a field for me- the usual. she's a fucking ray of sunshine, ain't she? i spent a lot of time on production of these shirts, scribbling feminist as fuck over any piece of paper for weeks until i got the writing right. hunting down an eco-friendly screen printer was at the top of my list, happy to have worked with six dog printing co. in denver! stoked to finally bring these sassy crop tops into the light of day! just in case there was a question of whether or not i identify as a feminist, well... FEMINIST AS FUCK.

there is only a limited run of 20 of this style! get yours on the site before they're gone! loud & proud, grrrl power!

the vintage hat was a beautiful gift from my father. the high-waisted bikini bottoms were made by one of my biggest inspirations & personal idol, mclaine o. her work is incredible. she is such a bad-ass, check her out!

CHERRY BOMB

all pieces custom for rebellelion:
sweet child o' mine cropped tube top / twirls just wanna have fun crop top / love letters halter top / cherry chapstick cropped tube top / grrrl scout denim crop top / don't take away music patched denim vest / kicked out of the love club denim jacket /

i have random pieces i work on in between different projects to give myself a fun break from work when i need it. so it goes, of course, that i'd finish my "procrastination" collection before my actual scheduled collections. what started as random experimentation of two very different textiles turned into a surprisingly cohesive collection. all of the crop tops were made from a set of vintage pillowcases, deconstructed & turned into spring tops as sweet as cherry pie. each top is bordered with pretty embroidery as i was playing around with stitch settings on my machine, as well as embellished with vintage ribbon i inherited from my great grandma.

the denim side was inspired by japanese boro, a technique of re-purposing rags & textile scraps into quilted fabrics. i've been obsessing over denim boro techniques & wanted to try my hand at it, frankenstein sewing pieces of denim together to create the grrrl scout crop top & denim vest. the vest was a daydream come true after i was envisioning an alter ego who is a rock cowgirl, howling songs out on her guitar in front of an american flag. the jacket was a work in progress for weeks, i wanted to create something that looked like a collage, pulled from my teenage years of spending countless hours gluing together magazine clippings. the theme for the jacket was scorned love, a broken heart.

this collection was a lot of fun to make, mostly because it was made while slacking off from my other work. the runaways were playing in my head through most of editing, imagining girl next door turned rock star aka cherry bomb. i loved experimenting with recycled textiles, so expect more boro in the future. as billy idol, who so handsomely graces the back of the "kicked out of the love club" would say, with a rebelle yell MORE MORE MORE!

SUNDAZED LOOKBOOK

the first time i met gizette was on location for this lookbook. she walked into the coffee shop where we met & her presence dominated the room before she even said a single word. she was confident & entertaining, i was in awe of her radiance. usually i direct my shoots, but gizette directed herself with ease, bringing her own accessories & altering her make-up for different looks. i wasn't telling her how to pose but simply following her as she explored this denver neighborhood just before sunset. can i get a HELL YES for strong, empowered women!?
